**Louis A. Kregel, MD, (1915 -1998) was
a clinical professor of surgery at Southwestern Medical School, Dallas,
and a practicing surgeon for almost 50 years. He was one of the first,
if not the first physician in America, to implement acupuncture in medicine.
He was a former staff member of Baylor, Presbyterian, Medical City, St.
Paul, Parkland, and Doctors' Hospital of which he was a founder.
