Taos Artist Kevin McDermott has made intense studies of kachinas of the various tribes and their meanings and tradition. The kachinas are painted to scale and in exact detail -- an accurate hitorical reproduction of the early dolls. Each has its own meaning and is used in its own ceremony. McDermott first mastered realism through his background in engineering, drafting, and technical drawing. This formal education combined with his innate creativity and a passion for color without sacrificing authenticity set the stage for his unique hitorical depiction of ancient cultures.
