Colorado River Valley Produces
Traditional Royal Honey
HMS Crown High Honey is harvested from wild flowers at around ten thousand
feet but traditional HMS Crown Royal Honey is
gathered from alfalfa, a legume grown locally, in the Colorado River Valley,
for hay. During the growing season the bees bring in honey from other sources
such as yellow sweet clover, dandelions, rabbit brush, and honey-dew melon.
Each floral source, when mixed by the bees, produces unique honeys with
subtle flavor differences. Such honey tends to have a richer flavor and
often have a higher vitamin and mineral content. (Caution: Some darker
honeys are said to have higher vitamin and mineral content, but such honeys
may be altered products having been cut with sugars, molasses, sugar cane,
or food colors).
In addition to our own sources, certain other local valley production
is used, but you have our guarantee that we will only put our label on
the very finest honey available to us. We have two types of honey: Our
traditional HMS Crown “Royal Honey” sold by the pound (sixteen ounces)
in a plastic squeeze bottle with a cone dispenser cap. This traditional,
original HMS Crown Royal Honey with superior flavor is the honey mainly
gathered in the Colorado River Valley largely from flowering alfalfa and
sweet clover.
