What to Do in an Emergency
Be Prepared 

In view of the uncertainties that seem to plague us these days, whether from terrorism, storms, floods, sunspots, earthquakes, etc, the following list could be useful for your review, now and then, as a way to monitor your own family’s emergency preparedness. Will you be ready if the power goes off?

This list is mainly based on information that was made available by the State of Colorado

Emergency Needs

• Battery Powered Radio (We like the kind that is crank operated and has a solar power feature and can charge cell phones)
• Solar charging panel for cell phones, lap top, and radios
• First Aid Kit & Manual
• Sleeping Bags & Blankets (wool & thermal)
• Manual Can Opener  (be sure it is serviceable and can work.. open a few cans with it… the first one we purchased did not work well)
• Waterproof/Windproof Matches
• Non-Perishable Foods*
• Flashlight
• Water Storage (1 gal./day)
• Water purification tablets
• Utility Knife (we suggest including a good sharpener with your knives
• Emergency Candles
• Extra Eyeglasses/Contact Lenses
• Essential Medications
• Extra Clothing
