Happy St. Patrick's Day
Other Irish Saints St. Patrick is, as you already know, the most famous Irish Saint. Many have attempted to count the Irish Saints and there are some who say they know how many there are and there are those who say it cannot be done. After a little research we agree with the latter conclusion. Two very popular and well known Saints are St. Brigid and St. Columba.
Saint Brigid of Kildare (above, also known as Brigid of Ireland) was
born circa 451 and passed over in 525. She was an abbess, a Christian nun,
and founder of several convents. She is considered one of Ireland’s Patron
Saints and her feast day is the first day of Spring in Ireland which is
established as the first of February.
Saint Columba, shown above, is sometimes known as Columba of Iona. He was a famous figure among Gaelic missionary monks who are widely believed to have introduced Christianity to the Kingdom of the Picts during the early medieval ages. He is also known as one of the Twelve Apostles of Ireland. He was born circa 521 and is said to have died on 9 June 597.
