Lucille's Roadhouse a memorable dining experience
Lucille's Roadhouse is inspired by the original Lucille's on Route 66 in nearby Hydro, Okla., which was operated by her mother Lucille Hamons for decades until her death in 2000. The new Lucille's Roadhouse is the brainchild of Rick Koch, a Route 66 enthusiast, owner of the Holiday Inn, and a prominent Oklahoma oil man. Mr. Koch, in addition to building the new Lucille's Roadhouse, also purchased the original Lucille's and fixed up the once deteriorating property thus giving it a long term historic face lift for future travelers. The historic gas station is only a few miles down Route 66 near Hydro, Oklahoma (home of the famous beer-only, deviled-eggs-only Hydro Bar). Within hours of opening, the new Lucille's became immediately famous for fried onion burgers which had a strong lead on the streaks and seafood that were slowed by construction issues. The steaks and seafood have reportedly left the still delicious burgers in the shade. Lucille's Roadhouse has three zones: The Grill, The Steakhouse, and a lounge. The grill offers assorted types of cobbler and several flavors of pie. Among the grill entrees are barbecue, meat loaf, chicken and dumplings, catfish, country fried steak, and chops with choices of dinner salad, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, French fries, okra, cole slaw, and potato salad.. Bill Lindsey, general manager of Lucille's Roadhouse, frequently works behind the grill. Previously, Bill was owner of The Grill for on Davis Avenue in Weatherford for 24 years prior to being recruited by Koch.
